Port to Hold Public Hearing on Proposed Sale of Undeveloped Land in Pullman

Public hearing set for 11 a.m. Thursday, January 7

Pullman (December 29, 2020) — The Port of Whitman County will hold a public hearing 11 a.m. Thursday, January 7, regarding the potential surplus and sale of Lots 19-21 in Locust Grove Industrial Park.

Due to in-person public meeting restrictions in Washington, this public hearing will take place remotely via Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86590903284. Members of the public may join by computer or phone. The call-in number is 1-253-215-8782. The meeting ID is 865 9090 3284.

Veterinary Medical Research & Development (VMRD) in Pullman recently approached the Port regarding the company’s interest in purchasing 8.36 acres in Lots 19-21 of Locust Grove Industrial Park, known informally as Pullman Industrial Park-West. The undeveloped land is located at the intersection of Grand Avenue North and Pullman-Albion Road in Pullman. The proposed use is light industrial business expansion.

The first step in the surplus/sales process involves holding a public hearing on January 7. Then, the Commissioners will vote on whether or not to declare the lots surplus to the Port’s needs and approve the sale to VMRD.

Founded in 1981, VMRD develops and manufactures veterinary diagnostic test kits and related reagents for distribution in more than 77 countries. Currently, VMRD is working on innovative solutions in the fight against COVID-19, including a new testing approach to safely keep businesses open. The Pullman-based company employs over 50 researchers, lab technicians and support personnel.
