Agreement to help fund Rosalia’s RV park improvements
Whitman County- The Port of Whitman County signed an Economic Development and Tourism Agreement with the Town of Rosalia to fund improvements to the town’s RV park. The Port will contribute $3,750 to the project.
Rosalia closed its RV park in the spring of 2024. The town, a popular destination for bird hunting as well as hiking and biking along the Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail, plans to reopen the RV park to provide tourists with a place to stay. Rosalia’s maintenance and public works staff will complete the improvements, including replacement of water lines and installation of frost-free water hydrants, a ground barrier, and split-rail fencing to divide each site. The total cost of the project is estimated at $7,500.
“The Town of Rosalia thanks the Port for signing this agreement. We are thrilled to reopen the RV park and bring more tourism to our town,” said Rosalia Mayor Lee Root.
Pursuant to RCW 53.08.255, Washington ports are authorized to direct funds toward projects that “attract visitors and encourage tourist expansion.” The Port of Whitman County signs Economic Development and Tourism Agreements to encourage regional economic growth and tourism opportunities. Previous agreements include the Clearwater Economic Development Association’s Dream It. Do It. Conference and the Pullman Depot Heritage Center railcar restoration project.
“This agreement aligns with the Port’s economic development work,” Commission President Kristine Meyer said. “We look forward to the completion of the RV park and the economic benefits it will bring to the Town of Rosalia.”
