Need last-minute Labor Day plans? Consider a staycation at Boyer Park & Marina!
Located on the historic Snake River 20 miles from Colfax, the park offers a public marina with docks, sandy swimming beach, playground, walking path, riverfront restaurant and more. The Port maintains the park as a free day-use facility, but overnight accommodations are also available through the Boyer Park KOA. The park boasts 61 RV sites, four camping cabins, three tent sites and a four-room motel. Please check the KOA website for rates and availability.
Whether you spend one day or several, here are some ideas to make one of this summer’s last weekends one to remember.
- Load up the boat. The marina offers a public boat launch, long-term and transient moorage and a floating fuel dock for all your boating needs.
- Bring your fishing gear. This section of the Snake River is renowned for some of the best catch-and-release sturgeon fishing. Try your hand at wrangling a 12-foot prehistoric fish. (And be sure to send us a photograph of your catch. We would love to feature it on our blog!)
- Rent a pedal boat or kayak. You don’t need to own a boat to enjoy cruising the river. Boyer Park offers four pedal boats and three kayaks for rent by the hour, a half day or full day in the marina area.
- Fill up at the Riverwalk Café. The on-site restaurant serves burgers, sandwiches, pizza, salads, hot dogs and more from its view of the beautiful Snake River. You can view the full menu here.
- Strap on your walking shoes. The 3.5-mile, paved Snake River Trail offers a spectacular view of the river, Lower Granite Lock & Dam and the Port of Almota. Along the way, you can learn more about the Columbia-Snake River System through the trail’s many interpretive signs.
- Rent an adult tricycle, bike or electric cart. Check out the Snake River Trail on wheels. The park’s three-speed adult tricycles and electric carts provide an easy, smooth ride for anyone to enjoy. Regular bikes are also available.
- Go shopping. The park’s onsite shop carries all sorts of groceries and gifts, from Snake River décor and apparel to those commonly forgotten items like towels and toiletries.
