For those looking to start a business: StartUp Palouse

StartUp Palouse provides free business training and support to aspiring entrepreneurs in Whitman, Columbia and Asotin counties. The program strives to promote diversity, equity and inclusion by supporting emerging entrepreneurs from marginalized rural communities who often experience challenges in finding support for business ownership and self-employment opportunities. 

StartUp Palouse is hosting an eight-class training course from 3-5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning October 3 and concluding October 26. 

Participants who complete the course will have an opportunity to present their business ideas to a panel of local experts. Business projects deemed achievable and realistic may be eligible for a $500 seed grant and ongoing one-on-one counseling awarded at the end of the training session.

StartUp Palouse is hosted by the Center for Inclusive Entrepreneurship in partnership with the Washington Small Business Development Center, the Whitman County Rural Library District and the Port of Whitman County.

For established business owners: ScaleUp

The Washington State Department of Commerce is hosting three, nine-week advanced business training programs to help established businesses increase profitability, build capacity and spur growth.

ScaleUp Business Training is offering three upcoming sessions:

• Session 22: Tuesdays from 9 - 10:30 a.m., October 17 - December 12
• Session 23: Wednesdays from 9 - 10:30 a.m., October 18 - December 13
• Session 24: Wednesdays from 6 - 7:30 p.m., October 18 - December 13 

The training's online learning environment offers live roundtable discussions and self-paced learning modules, paired with weekly study hall mentorship hours with highly qualified trainers. Graduates of the program will gain access to the ScaleUp Alumni Network and additional training opportunities.
